Love

Well, as many of you know, I am married and have been for almost four years. But lately, I've been feeling a little unfulfilled. Like I need another person in my life. Not a replacement for Chad, just an addition.

Today, I found him. His name is Andrew and he is four years old. We went to lunch together (with his mom and sister) and he colored me a picture and then we held hands as we crossed the street.

After lunch he told his mom that he loves me and he thinks I am nice. Now he is my boyfriend. I can't understand a lot of what he is saying, but he doesn't seem to mind. He even let me play with his Nintendo DS. And by that, I mean he offered to let me play, and then let me watch him play.

Uh Oh

Am I that girl that has a blog and never updates it? I fear that I am. Crap, I hate that girl.

I am at work with an hour to waste before closing time. Today has been absolutely beautiful. Snow is expected on Saturday. Boo.

The Pet Peeve of the Day has been: Poop. Why are people so scared of their pet's poop? We deal with it all day everyday and when I ask someone to bring some for a fecal test, they act like I am asking them to take a bath in it or something - all you have to do is put it in a ziploc bag, people!!

Then, if they manage to get close enough to it to put it in a bag, they bring it in here, holding it as far away from them as they can and shake it at me - "Take it, take it, take it!" Are you kidding me!? Do you not poop scoop your yard? Does your pet never have accidents in the house? There is just something about them having to actually travel somewhere with the poop that skeeves people out. And I am just about sick of it.

Well, enough about poop for today.

2nd Post!

Well the surgery went fine. The surgeon found 3 hernias instead of 2 like we thought, so she is going to spend the night for sure and then see how she feels tomorrow. She is doing fine, has some pain, but nothing unexpected.

How am I doing?

Well, what do you guys think about my New Year's resolution to blog more? I would say unsuccessful.

But you get a good post today! I am hanging out at NKC Hospital for the day while mom has hernia surgery.

This has been my day so far:
I got here at 7am. I was aiming for 6:30, oops.
Sat with mom till they took her back for surgery.
Cried a little.
Gave myself a lecture (crying really isn't necessary, it is minor surgery and she will be fine.)
Went to the cafe for a cherry turnover and a coke.
Came back up to the waiting room and got pastry flakes all over the floor around my chair.
Moved chairs so no one would know that I was the one who left food on the floor.
Moved back cause it was still the best seat in the room.
Send approximately 58 emails to Mandy, the only other person I know who is awake and online at this hour.
Kept an eye on the questionably homeless man in the waiting room.
Cried a little, cause homeless people make me sad.
Realized I was really crying cause I am worried about mom.
Started this blog post.

It is now 8:09. That's right, I did all that in one hour. It is going to be a long day.

It is possible that mom will get to go home today, but she might choose to spend the night, depending on how she feels. She has walked a minimum of 4 miles every single day for over 1,000 days (sorry mom, can't find the email with the exact number - leave it in the comments!) and has been putting this surgery off for over year, just because she didn't want to break the streak. She walked this morning before she came to the hospital, and I am confident she will find a way to walk tomorrow too. But if she doesn't, it is no big deal. We are super proud of her no matter what - no one is going to care if she misses a few days because she had surgery.

I have been watching for dad to get here. If his expected arrival time was 8:30, I would actually expect him at 8:15. So at 8:20 I thought, "Hmmm, why isn't dad here yet?" I shifted around in my chair and saw him sitting behind me. He said he had been here 10 minutes, saw a girl on her laptop and blackberry and thought "Man, can't people go for 10 seconds without technology!?" Then he saw it was me.

A cousin who works here just came out to say Hi to us. We know a few people who work here, it is nice to have some familiar faces around.

Well, I guess that is enough for now. I will update later and let you know how the surgery went.

Chad just said "I think I would like to see "Aviator" in 3-D." I laughed. He said, "What, don't you want to see it? And I said "Well I will see "Avatar" in 3-D. And then I laughed some more and blogged about it.

My geeky husband doesn't even know the name of the geeky movie he is going to make me see.

Happy New Year

Today is the first day of 2010. I am in my in-law's living room, surrounded by his family. Possibly also ignoring them for my laptop. I haven't thought of any resolutions - maybe I should update my blog more? How about a survey to start off the year? The problem I have with "end of the year" stuff is that I have a lot of trouble remembering when things happened. Like I will think that something happened this year, but it actually happened 3 years ago. So this might be more of a "last 4 months" survey.

1. What did you do in 2009 that you’d never done before?

Watched "Battlestar Galactica." Please don't judge me. Bought a new car. Bawled like a baby over my old car. Flew somewhere all by myself.

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I don't remember making any last year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

My college roommate had twins three weeks ago, and John & Kim adopted 2 boys.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

A little close, yes. Really close, no, thank goodness.

5. What countries did you visit?

Canada with my sister in June.

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?

Better work ethic applied to my home. I tend to work myself exhausted at my job and then ignore my household duties.

7. What dates from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

December 13th, hit a sign while skiing.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

I finally hired a good employee at work.

9. What was your biggest failure?

I hired several not good employees at work.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Hit a sign while skiing, experienced excruciating stomach pain a week and a half later, turns out I had some internal bleeding.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

Minnie, the Mini Cooper.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

Todd's. I don't think he did one thing wrong all year.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

Dolly's. She is lucky she is still alive.

14. Where did most of your money go?

Minnie. Eating out.

15. What did you get really excited about?

Going to visit my sister. Going skiing (never again). My Blackberry.

16. What song will always remind you of 2009?

Nothing is coming to mind.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

– happier or sadder? I feel happy.
– thinner or fatter? Fatter.
– richer or poorer? Well we both got raises, but also acquired a car payment.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?

Housecleaning, wearing my CPAP machine. Ooooo, there it is, right there, my Resolution: wear my CPAP machine!!

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?

Stressing about work. But also, sometimes stress gets stuff done, I don't think it is as bad as some people think.

20. How did you spend Christmas?

Snowed in at my In-Law's house.

21. Did you fall in love in 2009?

Like with someone new? No.

22. What was your favorite TV program?

27. What did you want and not get?

A smaller mortgage?

28. What was your favorite film of this year?

I don't remember watching very many movies this year. "Up" was good, although I will never watch it again, it made me cry too much. Like through the entire movie. Right, Mandy? I also really enjoyed "The Hangover" - you know I like stupid humor.

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

It was a normal Monday, except with presents. Age will not be discussed.

My sister, NY is too far. My grandma, heaven is also too far.

36. Who was the best new person you met?

My good employee at work.

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009.

There will always be more work to do. Always. That is what ensures you still have a job.

None are coming to mind, lame last question!
