Ahhh

Home, Sweet....wait, where am I? Dallas? That is so weird, because I was supposed to be sleeping in my own bed tonight. Drinking tap water. Using more than one napkin at a meal. Eating at Chipotle. Speaking english. Doing laundry. All these things were supposed to be done tonight.

Instead, our flight out of Miami was delayed almost 4 hours which means we did not get on a flight to KC, which means I am sitting in a Denny's at 9:30pm and blogging about it.

The airline is putting us up in the nicest hotel of the entire trip and I can't even enjoy it because they would not give us our luggage. So all I have is a camera. I can take a picture of the nice room, but I can't change my clothes, or wash my fash, or put on pj's.

Oh, did I mention that Chad has been throwing up all day? Yeah, turns out that South America was a little too much for his delicate stomach.

We made it

Well, we made it to the islands. Today we took a yacht to a small island, snorkled and hiked. Some people have gone to get fresh fish for dinner and the rest of us are just taking it easy.

I took lots of pictures with my underwater camera, but not sure how they will turn out. We saw sting rays, sharks, and tons of cool fish when we were snorkeling and lots of sea lions and iguanas on the hike.

Tomorrow we will probably go to the Charles Darwin museum and who knows what else.

Wedding

The time is almost here.  The van leaves for the church in a half hour - maybe I should be getting dressed instead of blogging?  Had a fun day at the salon, too bad I left looking like an Ecuadorian hooker.
Hola from Ecuador.  These spanish keyboards are very hard to type on, so I´ll keep this short.

We are safe and having fun.  The wedding is tomorrow night and today we learned our duties are to walk down the aisle and sit in a pew.  We don´t have to stand up like bridesmaids and groomsmen do in the States.  Which is good, because there is a very long mass and all that jazz.

There has been a lot of walking, shopping and saying ¨Huh?¨  They do not have washclothes or kleenex.  There are many stray dogs and even more stray children.

I hope everyone is ok at home.  John and Kim, we bought the boys their birthday presents at the market yesterday!

We have finally made it to the last leg of today's trip. I am tired and also tired of sitting in the middle seat. See you in 11 days!

Ecuador Bound

Whew. Made it through security with minimal passport issues. Hair is straight in picture, but curly now, security man did not like that.

Got patted down cause I am wearing a dress. About to buy a 75 dollar apple juice. Chad is sad cause he had his heart set on a bagel, but now we are through security and there are no bagels on this side.

Chad just found a square of toilet paper on the floor. And by "square of toilet paper," I mean a dime. You have to buy toilet paper for 10 cents in Ecuador. So I packed a lot of dimes. Thanks to Mandy and Mum for their contributions to my toilet paper fund.

We will board the plane in about 20 minutes and are scheduled to leave at 8am. Then we will meet the rest of our group in Dallas. I am glad we have a layover in Texas - it seems strange that as many places as I have been, Texas isn't one of them. So even though I will be in the airport the whole time, I still think this counts.

Ok, will update again from Dallas if something interesting happens.

Packing

Today was spent packing.  And unpacking.  And repacking.

The main issue appears to be the weight of the bags, not the size.  I can easily fit all our stuff into one checked suitcase and one carry on suitcase.  But they weigh too much for the smaller planes we will be on while we are in Ecuador.  So I think we are going to spread everything into 2 checked bags and one carry on.  Which will leave more room for all the souvenirs I buy.
